Zone Meter and Commercial Meter Installations RFP

Description: Work includes the installation of approximately 110 zone and commercial ami water meters which have been pre-purchased. The work shall include the removal of the old meters and proper installation of the new meters. Work required will vary and will include complete new meter boxes/services, removing concrete and replacing, removing dirt/mud from boxes to access meters, etc. Zone meter installations shall include excavation, purchase and installation of pre-cast vaults, and piping, valves, and meter installation.

Water Meter Installations
The City of Bedford is soliciting bids from qualified contractors to provide all labor, equipment, materials, tools, transportation, and incidental services necessary for the removal and replacement of warrantied water meters within the City of Bedford. The project will consist of replacing existing water meters identified by the City as defective, damaged, malfunctioning, or otherwise eligible for warranty replacement. The District desires to advance and update the utility infrastructure to provide more detailed usage data to customers, advance notification of leaks, and improve operational performance in the non-revenue water, and meter data management. The project will consist of removing all existing ", 1", and 2" bronze bodied mechanical meters and replacing them with new solid-state meters; developing a cellular communication system for monthly billing, and customer interface for daily flow data; providing staff training, and continuing customer service.

Water meters, electric meters, and AMI transmitters will be provided by the Owner. Time allotted for completion of work is 210 consecutive calendar days.
