The meeting featured a presentation on a draft comprehensive plan by Neighborhood Strategies. Key discussion topics included the plan's role as a policy document rather than law, the upcoming adoption process, and specific development considerations for the Palmer Road area. The presentation covered recommendations for modernizing zoning ordinances, implementing form-based code, prioritizing transportation and pedestrian infrastructure, and establishing clear boundaries for logistics and warehouse development, with data centers explicitly prohibited in planned employment districts. The boards also reviewed various land use map typologies, discussed strategies for preserving rural character, promoting walkable town centers, managing housing diversity, and coordinating with the local school system on growth.
