Discussions addressed quotes for patio door repairs, planning for Fourth of July and Christmas in July events, and addressing Facebook account administration. Under old business, there was an update on grants, noting the 2024 design approval and scheduling the July 8, 2024, meeting for 2025 grant planning. New business focused on reviewing and discussing seasonal payment policies, specifically whether to adhere to the May 1st due date or maintain the previously voted upon September full payment deadline, which requires consultation with the full Parks Commission. Other topics included defining what constitutes a 'project' for submission purposes and a comment regarding the concept of central oversight for all parks. A manager reported a threat received at Sunken Lake Park.
The committee discussed the Manager's monthly report, including the vehicle fuel log and maintenance checklist, playground equipment, and County ID badges for park managers and camp hosts. They reviewed budget adjustments, CIP planning, and recreation plans, including a proposed CIP sheet. The committee also discussed updating the budget sheet for a Youth & Recreation Grant application, and the feasibility of Mobi mat. The need for more water samples by the Health Department was addressed, and a special tribute acknowledging Beaver Lake Park for National Camping Week was read.
